Niamey - the Embassy District. Many young people live near a rubbish dump near the Embassy compound. Some of them are charged with keeping the dump clean , and after separating elements that can be reused they burn the rubbish. The fumes that they breathe daily are extremely harmful health-wise. |

Amadou, 17 years old. he spent his first ten years in a Koranic school, then went to a state school for 2 years. Now he is part of the Unicef assistance and recovery programme for young people. His dream is to become a policeman, for the authority that the uniform would give him. Amadou is quite a difficult boy to follow. |
